Similarities between the Samsung Galaxy S24 and the iPhone 15

Once again, the new year has begun and that is typically the time when Samsung reveals their new smartphones. For instance, the Korean firm has introduced a new Samsung S24 series that emphasizes the Galaxy AI.

The iPhone 15 (Pro) is without a doubt Apple’s most important product on the market currently, while for Samsung this will certainly be their Galaxy S24 series. In terms of similarities between the flagship and the iPhone, it is time for a comparison.

For technology buffs like us, it’s always very exciting to see what Samsung has in mind for their new smartphones. Samsung and Apple mirror each other as they create the perfect smartphone. You can notice that Samsung uses some of the features from the iPhone 15 with the S24 series, something Apple has also done for the iPhone.

As last year, the Galaxy is available in three sizes: a standard 6.2-inch size, a larger 6.6-inch Plus and the Galaxy S24 Ultra with its gargantuan display at an oversized 6.8 inches in diameter. For comparison: The iPhone 15 series comprises the basic 6.1-inch model, the Plus version that is a bit larger, and also the Pro versions in both small (6.1 inches) and large (6.7 inches).

As comparing apples with oranges is very difficult, we are not going to present the many differences in detail. Both smartphones are superb in their own right and both devices are equal. Today, the ecosystem in which a consumer lives is the most relevant one. Unfortunately, changing to a different platform is not very easy.

It is safe to make a transition from an iPhone to an Android phone as it has many implications. For instance, you need to buy all the apps again, transfer all your cloud photo library and files, etc. That’s why you won’t be switching very soon. However, if you are not happy with your current smartphone, the change is worth it and the choice between a Galaxy S24 and an iPhone 15 almost coincides.

This year, Samsung has gone all in on AI (Artificial Intelligence), commonly referred to as artificial intelligence. With Galaxy AI, Samsung attempts to convince customers to choose the latest models. For instance, if you do call a person in a foreign language, the AI will translate that into the discussion simultaneously for you (not yet to Dutch). The keyboard has AI software built into it, which can also be used to rectify or improve your text. Additionally, Galaxy AI can identify what is in the picture (like Google Lens ) and the photos improve with artificial intelligence.

• S24 (Plus) has a Dynamic AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz-120Hz. The iPhone 15 (Plus) has a Super XDR OLED with a fixed refresh rate of 60Hz (higher is better).
• The S24 Ultra has a Dynamic AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz-120Hz. The iPhone 15 Pro (Max) has a Super XDR OLED with a variable refresh rate of 1Hz-120Hz (higher is better).
• iPhone 15 (Plus) has a 48MP main (24mm, ƒ/1.78) and 12MP ultra-large (13mm, ƒ/2.2) rear camera, the S24 (Plus) has a 50MP main (24mm, ƒ/1.8), 12 MP ultra-wide (13mm, ƒ/2.2) and 10 MP telephoto (70mm, ƒ/2.4) camera system.
• The iPhone 15 Pro has a 48MP main (24mm, ƒ/1.78), 12MP ultra-large (13mm, ƒ/2.2) and 12MP telephoto 2x zoom (48mm, f/2.8) camera on the back.
• The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 48MP main (24mm, ƒ/1.78), 12MP ultra-large (13mm, ƒ/2.2) 12MP telephoto 5x zoom (120mm, f/2.8) camera on the back. The S24 ultra features a 200MP main (ƒ/1.7), 12MP ultra-large (ƒ/2.2), 50MP 5x telephoto lens (ƒ/3.4) and 10MP 3x telephoto lens (ƒ/2.4).
• The S24 series uses an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner while the iPhone 15 series uses facial recognition.

Striking similarities

Finally, we consider some very remarkable similarities. Thus, you can conclude that the processors in both series are alike in terms of speed, storage and battery life. The S24 series and the iPhone 15 series have a powerful processor, it is good to know that the first smartphone with a fast super-powerful 3-nanometer chip is the iPhone 15 Pro (Max).

In addition, both the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra use a new material in smartphone land: Titanium. This material is moderately hard and also resistant. This not only gives good protection, but the substance has an additional advantage in that it scratches slower. Besides, titanium is much lighter than, let’s say, stainless steel.
